Consumer Affairs Victoria has responsibility for administration of the Owners Corporations Act 2006 and Part 5 and section 38 of the Subdivision Act 1988. Land Registry, Land Victoria retains responsibility for registration of the plans of subdivision and any alterations to the plan. If you are an owner or occupier in an owners corporation Consumer Affairs can assist you with telephone advice and dealing with disputes. CAV also has a guide, a range of fact sheets, sample documents and approved forms and notices specifically for owners corporations. You can download these on line at www.consumer.vic.gov.au .

was developed by the City of Melbourne in partnership with RMIT to help reduce sound levels in city living spaces.  CitySounds2 has been designed to assist residents and industry by providing information on acoustic design in an accessible, interactive format.  Using web design and audio software to create a virtual CBD living space, the program lets you hear real sounds and learn ways to reduce noice entering into your home.  CitySounds2 and detailed fact sheets can be found at www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/noise.

Victoria penalty interest rate
Please refer to the Owners Corporations Act 2006 section 29 in relation to charging of penalty interest on arrears. It allows an owners corporation to charge interest on any amount payable by a lot owner that remains outstanding after the due date for payment, up to the maximum rate of interest payable under the Penalty Interest Rates Act 1983.


Value of Fee Units and Penalty Units  
As fixed by the Treasurer under section 5(3) of the Monetary Units Acts 2004, and as published in the Victorian Government Gazette, under section 6 of the Monetary Units Act 2004, for the financial year 1/07/2009 – 30/06/2010, the value of a fee unit is $11.69 and the value of a penalty unit is $116.82.
